Budugu started with a book, and then became a dog.
Growing up, I loved reading Budugu, the beloved Telugu novel by Mullapudi Venkata Ramana about a mischievous, curious little boy who sees the world in his own wonderfully unconventional way.
Years later, when I got my own little troublemaker, the name just felt right. I named my Labrador Budugu — partly because of the character I had grown up loving, and partly because, well… he had the mischief to match.
Then came the slightly harder part: figuring out where we could actually go together.
I wanted to take Budugu out for walks, little adventures, hikes and new experiences. But finding places where dogs were genuinely welcome — and where I could feel comfortable taking him — wasn’t always easy. Information was scattered, unclear, or simply difficult to find.
So I decided to build the thing I wished I had.
Budugu is a place to discover places you can go with your dog.
It carries my dog’s name, but the idea is bigger than him. It’s about making it a little easier for dog parents to get out, explore, and create more memories with their four-legged troublemakers.
Because every Budugu deserves a little adventure.

How it stays trustworthy
Anyone can suggest a new place, but nothing goes live the moment it's submitted — it sits in a review queue first. Once a place is up, community visit check-ins keep it honest over time: the more recently dog parents have actually confirmed it, the more you can trust it. If something's changed — a gate's locked now, a policy shifted — anyone can flag it, and that shows up right on the listing rather than sitting invisible until someone happens to notice.
Who else calls this place home
Most Indian parks and neighbourhoods aren't empty — there might be a resident troop of monkeys, a pack of street dogs who've lived there for years, or both. Budugu shows that as context to plan around, not a warning to scare you off. Knowing what's there before you go is what actually makes a walk go smoothly.
Where it works today
Budugu currently covers 10 major Indian cities, though listings are still concentrated in a few of them — this is early, and it grows one dog parent's submission at a time. If your city's thin on listings, that's not a wall, it's an invitation.
